Pictures or it didn't happen. 😉
A “before” photo is the best that I can do. Sunday dinner was more than two hours ago and there is very little “after” left. But it WAS fantastic!

Last night we made a West African rice dish - Jollof rice...

Onions, Basmati rice, lots of spices...

Carrots and some water added...

Then added pureed tomatoes, red bell pepper, garlic...

Simmer covered for a while until most of the moisture is gone...

Add in some frozen peas, stir in and let them warm up...

This was very tasty, and quite filling...

For me Christmas also means Dungeness crab season, it’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Live crab are easy to prepare, just boil these 1kg beauties for 15min

Cool them a bit

cleaned and split, ready to serve

and yes, it is lightly raining while I do this all outside. Part of the charm of a California winter, plus keeps the house from smelling crabby for a day.

I know Maine lobster tails and king crab legs get all of the praise but nothing beats the sweet taste of fresh Dungeness crab. I bought two live ones on Sunday and they were delicious!

I had dinner with friends at Harris' Restaurant last night. The prime rib was spectacular and much better than the one served at the famous prime rib restaurant down the block.

Not dinner, but part of our traditional family Christmas brunch. I know the folks in the UK may laugh but for us, Christmas starts with Scotch Eggs & pastry

Dining late this evening and I am told it is a surprise, judging by the aroma it is certainly not turkey 👍

Wild caught Barramundi with local garlic Tiger Prawns with Blue Vein Cheese Potato Salad

Enjoyed a oyster stout beer to wash it all down
