I'd been looking off and on for a few years now to find a nice Calypso, so when a NOS Full Set Calypso III came up I jumped straight in. Trouble is not that many were sold and the vast majority of survivors seem to be well worn.
The watch is totally as New apart from some lume fade.
With a 36.2mm Case that's only 6mm thick, it must be one of the slimmest Diver's ever made. I suspect there's some Genta DNA in the design.

There isn't an awful lot out there about the range so here's a little bit of reference....

Calypso I 1981 cal 1337 ST 396.0929 34.5 x 10mm
Calypso II 1982 cal 1420 ST 396.0932 34.5 x ?
Calypso III 1983-5 cal 1432 ST 396.0975 36.2 x 6mm
(1984 cal 1426 ST 396.0858)

The Bi-Metal versions are gold plated (18k was on the Plongeur De Luxe)
Early cal 1337 movements can no longer be serviced by Omega
Bezels also no longer available

The Catalogue pic of Calypso II models is from 1982, when the watch sold for £325..(dig that SS on Shark Mesh!)
Seems crazy now, but at the time you could've bought a Speedmaster Professional for £345.
...and with my Calypso III from 1985, for that kind of money they couldn't even get the Bezel aligned 😀

Anyone have some pics of their Calypso or other info they can share?

If Omega would make a nice new thin movement, perhaps with a micro or peripheral rotor, and stick it in a similarly thin diver case (say maybe 10mm), I'm sure it would be met with more enthusiasm than their more recent chrono-chime.

Very nice. The bracelet looks similar to the one on my Constellation.

Yes, very similar...one can see where the inspiration came from...assuming your Constellation is pre '83?
I find mine extremely comfortable & has a great look as it contours the wrist.

Wow, that is very, very nice !
Makes me want to put track down my two-tone Mayol/Plongeur Deluxe and put a new battery in it ;-)

As for the bracelet, it's quite different, but there is inspiration indeed, a return to the first watch with an integrated bracelet, the 168.045 https://revolutionwatch.com/watch-design-the-spirit-of-integration/
Interesting article...thanks. The Calypso is my first integrated watch and I'm enjoying the experience.

Update: Popped in to Omega for some bracelet adjustment and they also removed the Case Back, checked the movement & tested the Water Resistance. The watch has been serviced, likely by Omega some years ago. I suspected this because it runs too well to be on original lube. Passing the WR test was a bonus, not that I would trust swimming with it 😀

Nimitz and the black 120 are really close aren't they! Is the Nimitz really more valuable?

More desirable than a Steel Caly for sure & probably worth more than a PVD.
They're very thin on the ground & a unique design. You just gotta love that porthole date window.

Yeah it's just that the chrome seems to wear out so much/quickly ! Its Plongeur Deluxe 1337 cousin is probably less worrying to wear ;-)

Just joined the club- exited with my new 1982 Calypso II 120 midi in PVD black plating with patina . Perfect counter to heavyweight divers . Addicted to 60’sBulova Oceanographers and accutrons and Snorkels. Long term 43 yr affair with my 81 Rollie Sub. Happy to adopt this new Omega to the family

Just a note on the opening post that stated that ‘ early cal 1337 movements can no longer be serviced’posted October 2022. An 120m Nimitz cal 1337 that I have stopped working last year,it passed through my local AD,national omega centre and finally to omega in Geneva.fearing the worst I was then informed that my watch could be serviced/repaired and is now back with me.New hands, crown and warranty. Happy days!

Omega still cater of 1337, think a full service (inc case and bracelet refinish) is about £350, I needed a circuit on one of mine and from recollection that was about £120

I’m allmost member of the Calypso club! I have one incomming from Australia. A two-tone Calypso 1 in a pretty good shape. Really love the fact that’s it’s a tough divewatch with good sizes for small wrists. Pictures of my incomming Calypso:

Congrats! You're gonna love it. Funnily enough I jus t bought the same Bracelet in all Steel (ref: 1384), just in case a nice Caly turns up with standard lugs. I think the Bracelet was offered with the Calypso I & is rare to find these days.

Now I need to find a nice Calypso with standard lugs...
