This is considered one of the ultra rare Weems. I have an ugly watch, but it is all original , unpolished and comes from an executive at NAWCC. I had no idea what it was until a dealer kept trying to sell it to me saying as a friend you need to buy this.

These are documented in Goldberger. Many elite collectors have chased these down for more than 10 years and not gotten one. NOS examples reach $20,000. Personally I had no idea these watches were in such demand.

Very cool watches and a great pickup! Definitely one of those references you have to grab if you are so lucky as to come across one in the wild.

Congrats! I've missed out on several over the years.
Yours is hardly ugly; they are often found redialed, or in far worse shape.
Wear it well!

Thank you for the comments, I have seen these before at Longines but never knew about others.

I think for the 4461 reference the serial numbers are all sequential and doesn't seem to be very many. Since I just started looking into these, I would have to refrain from speculating. I am surprized that there actually are several Two Crown Bezel Stopseconde 12.68z Weems. A few of them are noted as being sold directly to Longines staff that did evaluations on them. They certainly do not appear often and when they do, it is mostly in the United States. For a nice clean one, the prices are over $10K-15K. This one although it is mechanically clean, the outside bezel is stuck and the dials are heavily patina, but I got away with paying well below 5 digits so kinda of happy with it as I have obviously only seen the one in St. Imier. The market for vintage watches seems in general to be a bit down so I got it at a bargain.

Very famous watch and still in pretty nice condition, and for sure in the HAll of Fame with the greats of navigation and airtravel. Longines, Weems and Movado made these, British watchmaker dr. Rebecca Struthers restored one i believe, you can find her on Instagram.

Never seen one before.

Incredible watch, huge thanks for sharing.

Interesting to see there are different bezels vastly far apart in style

Thank you, seems this concept of the running seconds flyback took off and we see all the larger models. This 33mm size is definitely nicer than the typical 31mm goldfilled model so often seen on eBay.

It seems that Longines was trying to figure out which outter bezel works best and so there's at least 3 different configurations and at least 4 variants. The one I have is most likely the one that got mass produced. The others were evaluation models and so are one off examples.

It's in PVH Weems Navigation Manual, so this is a true WW2 era Weems developed for Celestial Navigation. I would not be surprized if they were originally intended for the US Army and Navy

Two interesting ones that sold last year.

Wow, that top one was really cheap. It's a beauty I wish I had seen that one.

The second one is also really interesting. So that confirms that the 4461 was intended for military pilots.

I purchased a weems from a seller in Canada a couple of years ago and he sent me some photos of a Longines case he wanted to know if I could identify. Attached photos are what he sent
