10 years last month. You shouldn’t have any probs working out the watch.

However, I did wear this when my middle daughter married, a few years ago.

On my wedding day, I wore the Seamaster I was wearing when I met the future Mrs K on a dive trip…

This is me, waiting nervously in a cafe next to the Old Chelsea Town Hall, with my best man..

Nice. I know the venue too from my days as a delivery driver in Central London. A few Rock n Rollers married there if I am not mistaken.

Well, after the ceremony we took everyone down to the Chelsea Potter for beers, then took everyone in hired Routemasters to the Belvedere in Holland Park for lunch… evening bash was at the Crazy Bear in Covent Garden, via more drinking at the Artesian bar at the Langham. It was a grand old day out in London! It’ll be 10 years this year, so I’ll have to find a suitable venue and wear the watch again. Not sure the suit will still fit…

😗

Here’s the watch my wife gave me on our wedding day. (I had no idea she was doing it: she had independently remembered I liked the “square Steve McQueen watch,” but didn’t know about the cal.11 v cal.12 distinction 😟🥰)

As for the watch I wore on my wedding day:

Embarrassingly enough, I wore a Daniel Wellington on my wedding weekend. I had actually bought it because i thought then it was a cheap decent dress watch for around USD200+ at a mall. I wasn't into the whole watch appreciation/collecting thing then. I recall my mother even sweetly offering to pay for the watch but politely declined. Dang, should've sprung for something else.
The DW looked like this and is stashed in one of the drawers at home. Definitely not going to be one of those vintage drawer finds.

Fast forward to our third wedding anniversary a few years back and after learning/falling in love abt the Rolex GMT 1675/16750, my wife gave permission for a GMT purchase heheheh.

This watch was my wedding watch, so obviously got the nod on the big day. This shot is actually from the reception.

I actually wore this Seamaster as it was the only watch I owned.

Similar story from my side : was not into watch back then and no heirloom watch either to enlighten me 😀

So I did select a watch I believed would go nicely with my suit ending up buying a simple entry level watch from frederique constant. I believed it was an automatic but not even sure now. Was trying to take a picture to put here but can't even put my hands on it.

3 years later I started getting into watches and got my first 'real' watch : a nice omega constellation pie pan. Wish I've been into watch earlier. But I'll make this up by wearing this one for our next wedding anniversaries 😀. It is matching all the criteria I can imagine !

@Danwales Your Cyma is a nice one to wear ! Congrats for the wedding to come !

Great thread...

I wasn't into vintage watches back then (2 years ago). I bought myself a Zenith Elite Classic Chronograph. I'm more used to the sizes of vintages watches now, so this watch spends most of the time in the box. Will pass it on to my son when he's getting married.

I wore this vintage Conny to my wedding, which i eventually sold to a forum member here. I kind of regret a bit not keeping it.

One of the other reasons I am wearing my Cyma is a bit practical. I work in the tourism industry, I love my job but its not particularly well paid. This year while on much reduced wages I got clobbered one month by a car repair bill, nursery fees for my daughter a few other things. As a result I sold a few of my more expensive pieces. It was the logical thing to do. Pointless struggling over bills when you have a couple of watches to sell right? I won't sell the Cyma. It's not valuable and therefore it's definitely with me for good.

Great Thread!!! I had a small collection of vintage watches that I started acquiring a couple of years before my wedding. My soon to be wife gave me a gift of the Eterna Matic Kon-Tiki 20 that she caught me looking at in a jeweler’s shop that had a decent collection of vintage watches the Christmas before we got married. It was the perfect watch for the wedding. I still have it but it needs a service and I haven’t worn it in over 5 years. Been married 19 years and still have that watch. Lately, I have been lusting over a gold watch and I think a 1960’s or 70’s gold watch would be a perfect wedding watch!

Thats actually an interesting point and a good advice to the ones who are planning on getting married, never wear your most expensive watch to the wedding 😁 👍
