It's been pointed out to me that there are many Dorchesters. The one I'm looking in is Dorchester, Dorset, England.

Hello David.
Well there may be many towns called Dorchester, but you live in the original Dorchester.
Dorchester has one or two jewellers, but I wouldn't have them chewing up my old Speedmaster case back.

If you drive along the A35 to Bournemouth, you have Charles Fox or Michael Matthews right in the town centre. Can be a bit snotty in Charles Fox but I found the vintage watch bloke in Michael Matthews very helpful.

Also @ChrisN (member here) is just up the road from you. He is just over the border in Somerset. You can contact him on this forum.

Cheers.

@ChrisN would have been first option, but I’m pretty sure he posted a while back that he wasn’t
actively seeking any more work. Which is a pity.

The girlfriend lives in that neck of the woods, in Wimborne. It’s a lovely county, Dorset. Thomas Hardy country.

Yes I agree regarding ChrisN being 1st choice in this locality. But if he's not looking for work at the moment, and it's not a valuable watch I would probably go into Bournemouth. I am pretty sure Charles Fox has a work shop on the premises. If on the other hand it's a valuable Omega watch, I prefer to head for Essex.

There used to be super clock and vintage watch in Dorchester opposite Martins the newsagent. Sadly it closed down sometime in the last 2 years or so. Lovely part of the world. Hope you enjoy living (t)here. (I am currently in town.)

Hi

Thanks @nonuffinkbloke and @Charlemagne1333 for mentioning me. Indeed, I am not taking on any more work as I am determined to retire😀.

In the main, I am referring people to Simon Freese but am talking to another watchmaker (as Simon is very busy) about taking on work. He is Alex James, in Birmingham, and I hope to be able soon, to send people to him. It may take a few months but he appears to be a quality watchmaker who will be able help people on here. I'll post when I can be sure and hope this will help all the UK based collectors as well as him.

Best wishes, Chris
