30's Zais (Breitling..Venus movement) bubble back Chronograph..allegedly used by the Italian airforce. I don't wear it at all much as the dial is painted slate and the watchmaker really couldn't fix the slight rattle of the movement inside the casing. I bust it last time by clapping my hands in front of the class too hard!!
Yes, the last of the In-house chronometer movement constellations. The 168.0062/ 368.0855.
They came in a variety of materials, and with a wide range of dials. White/Silver, Blue, Black and i’ve even seen a deep purple One that looked absolutely awesome.
Some of the dials tend to „spider“.
I just love the bracelet of this ref and the over all design.
They used to trade for way under 1k € ... but now the only ones I can find are with dealers, and most of them have been horribly refinished or overpolished.
If anyone sees a stainless steel one with a blue dial, or purple dial, shoot me a pm 😀.
I'd like to find more time-only Cymas and Movados with breguet numerals, preferably in stainless steel or solid gold. The movements on these are beautiful.
I have several watches that could fall in this range. But let's see some Lip! These two are solid gold with a R25. The chronometer is rather hard to find, in particular in that condition, but for me the real thing is the other one because the movement has the "poinçon de Besançon". I think I have seen two or three watches with it.
I haven't ever seen another one of these Grana Kurth Freres chronographs from the early 1940s, so I think it's fair to say it's a rare watch. It's great to wear because of its all-dial 38mm size. Decent quality, with a SS case and Venus 175 movement, and Grana is the predecessor of Certina.
So a rare watch, and a nice watch ... but not particularly valuable.
