New release from Rolex - OP41 in steel with bubble motif dial. Apparently the colours are the same as the original coloured dials from a couple of years ago.

I’m sure these will get loads of hate as they’re Rolex and perhaps a niche design but I love this. I wouldn’t buy it or wear it, but I like the fact they’re offering something a bit different and playful.

Cant help but feel that this is something for the investors clearly. I personally dont like the design. Reminds me a bit of those old Domino's pizza editions etc for some reason.

It would look cool on a swatch but doesn’t really fit a Rolex imo

Enter the bubble jokes…

Will the bubbles stay inflated throughout the wait list period?

No Helium escape valve.

That dial! Those bubbles just Pop!

I hope you’re right and the wearers don’t want it because they think the investors will be all over it but the investors think it’s tapped out and don’t go near it. Then I’ll swoop in and pick up the 36mm version!

I think it’s ace.

It just looks weird to me. Bubbles generally rise/float, not sink/settle to the bottom.

Not when they're Swiss Made and inflation is rising.

I'm just happy to see Rolex Corporate were hard at work during the worldwide shutdown

Perfect with white tux and tails

Or morning coat and spats

I like the playful aspect of it but let's be honest here folks...

the level of thinking it through is horseshit. The hands are getting totally lost in the dial. It looks cobbled together and very "last minute" design wise. Very plug -n- play.

Rolex either should have kept the dial the same and put a black handset on it -or- kept the OP standard handset and done something really cool like a black dial with bubble shaped markers filled with dyed lume to reflect the 2020 OP dials or if that wasn't possible -- bubble shaped markers with their Chromalite (or whatever they call it) but each marker has a different colored anodized border representing the 2020 colors.

For pieces like these, readability is second to dial design. Next year version, no hands. Just dial.

FWIW, the PM Daytonas are poorly readable, upon first glance...

...I've learn to use my phone to tell time when I wear a Daytona.

To me there is a bit of a Frank Lloyd Wright feel to this ROlex dial design like this FLW dinner set
lf

or this mug based on a FLW stained glass design

I’m impressed by the perpetual 1908…It’s going to be a hit. Now back to ogling the JLC Chronograph Reverso……….How many watches need I sell and what will MRS S do to me?

My thoughts exactly. Some people complain that Rolex just keeps replaying the same old hits. Others complain when they do funky stuff like this. Can’t please everyone. I think it’s a fun novelty. The only thing I think we can all agree on is that Palm Fronds is stupid. 😁

They're not bubbles, they're lead balloons is why.
