Watch treasure hunting report

A friend sent me a link to a nearby garage sale. The listing stated "a box of old watches." Fri-sat, starting at 9am. I got there at 9:05 Fri and asked to see the watches. A middle aged lady said that a friend of her father's had come the night before and bought the whole box!! I told her that I thought that was bordering on unethical because the watches were listed in the ad and that was the only reason I came. She didn't have too much of a response.

Ah don't sweat it as chances are it was just a box of cheap crap.

Lots of interesting watches yesterday at Chelsea Flea markets and shops, and here's a couple of beauties George at Tempvs Fvgit had just serviced by Julio. The Seiko was about as close to NOS as I've ever seen.

Do you recall what they were asking for the Seiko?

Had a good time in Manhattan today and while I didn't score anything interesting our pal member Norfolk managed to snag some interesting stuff. I was at least able to unload these tired watches along with a Mido and butt ugly Tag Heuer SEL tutone watch to a couple dealers at the market.

We spotted this unusual Constellation gold cap at Alan's booth. Forgive my crappy pictures but the imperfections were on the crystal and the dial presents clean and damage-free. Both of us shied away from it as there are some inconsistencies to it and Alan kept raising the price by the hour. 😁

What kind of watch is that left one? Looks like some kind of pie pan?

It's a 60's Lucien Piccard stainless automatic that originally was silver dialed but got sun scorched into a wild looking even brown color. The imperfections are on the acrylic crystal as the watch is actually quite stunning.

Next time when you got something looking like that, contact me pleaseeeeee. Got cousin in NY so she will take care of shipping to Europe 😀

I usually get packages from our watch hunting relatives in the south pacific a couple times a month, and sometimes there's an example of true tropical dialed stuff. That LP is a prime example of genuine "tropical" 👍

Interesting day yesterday at the NYC flea market and I didn't buy anything which probably means the day was a success 😁

Our pally George had this gorgeous jumbo Angelus in his shop and it's really a sight to behold in person. Was tempted to snatch it up but I spent way too much on watches this month already!

If I can pry, what was the asking price for that Angelus?
