B25EC56F-0FCC-4BAA-ACFC-8BDF3E6CF232.png This just hit ‘my feed’ on You Tube - presumably because I spend too much time looking at watches :whistling: ... I just watched the ‘trailer’ and this wrench is saying that in four months I can turn $100k into ... ONE MILLION DOLLARS ... by flipping watches. I must have been doing it wrong all along....It’s disturbing that this exists. I kind of want to see what he says, just for the entertainment, but I also hope that anyone that might be thinking about doing this (is it crazy to think that someone might?) googles it and happens upon this thread before paying up or whatever is involved... I suppose I will watch it at some point to have (in my mind) a reasoned rebuttal... but wow - I suppose the sharks sense the blood in the watch waters ...

I tend to distrust anything that has the first letter of every word capitalised, and also things that pop up on YouTube.

Anyhow, As I Don’t Have A Post Office It Appears That This Deal Doesn’t Apply To Me.

For a modest fee I will help you turn ONE MILLION DOLLARS into $100,000 just by flipping watches. Can’t say fairer than that can you?

Well if your watch has had over 25 thousand views and it hasn’t sold, a bump without a price drop is going to do fuc& all......

I recently saw a video on YouTube about a group of guys who had started a business flipping watches in the Miami area. Forgot their name, but they were flashing a lot of expensive watches in stock.

I think most of it was for show, though, and these were either on consignment or they owed money on them. At one point, someone took an order for a new Daytona for $20k and another guy was calling around to try to find one cheaper. I think he bought one for $19k bundled with some lesser watch in order to close the deal.

didn’t seem like a very sustainable business model to me.

Well, it’s more in line with working from home. No need to leave the house anymore. EA3501A7-4E55-4807-89AA-03361EC0EFBE.jpeg

The timepiece gentleman does a similar thing but he’s gone from zero to $35million in 3 years...

Second hand watch market in the Uk was £22billion in 2020. How they come up with these figures I don’t know.

I don’t understand flipping as I never see watches up for sale at prices that would allow for any profit, certainly not enough to run a business on! People seem very clued up about the value of their watches. So anyone any idea how it works?

They mostly buy from people going under that need money.

A dealer will buy a $3000 watch for $1500-2000 and sell it for $4000
Not everyone is a savvy person, we collectors are less than 5% of the watch buying public.

It will take far fewer days for us to ban you if you sell busted or misrepresented watches at high markup on here

Is that what flippers do? It’s not a term I’m familiar with, only heard watch people use it. I just thought it meant buying and selling watches.

So the guy running this is pejman ghadimi, Google him. Hes a serial entrepreneur who has a net worth of $50million. He appears to have been successful in banking, then set up three of his own companies and made millions. Though all I can find is info about how to get rich quick with cars and watches and a bunch of self help books.

Quite the gulf between "is" and "appears to have been". My ear itches.
