Watch Gift Ideas for Kids

Hi everyone,

So my nephew is turning 8, and we spend most of our time together outdoors on Vermont hiking trails. He's a tinkerer, has a little engineer brain and just loves understanding how things work, etc. Was thinking of getting him a watch to wear hiking, something with some cool functionality that he can nerd out over.

I bought him his first watch, a mickey mouse watch when he was crazy about him, and he's had an interest in watches ever since.

Any ideas from the forum folks?

Much appreciated in advance. Also would love to hear any non watch gift ideas with an outdoors theme.

If he's into mechanical stuff, get him started with a Seiko 5 - punches way above it's weight in terms of what you pay for it.

Seiko Snk803 is a great size with a display back case, or a g-shock is always a safe bet
