Congratulations! It is nice to know that you are a privileged customer, you must have spent some coin with him, and I am sure its worth every penny.
I have begged him to work on my speedy professional on several occasions for the past 18 months, each time he simply brushed me off for being too busy to accept, I understand my bill is small and he has no time for it, I'll be grateful to tip him extra.
Thank you for sharing.

Al is a huge asset to this community and is nothing but generous with his time and experience here on the forum. Given his reputation and skill, it shouldn't be surprising that he receives more requests than he has time to complete - he's just one person, after-all.

I would be surprised if he was anything but prompt in responding to each inquiry you had - I have sent him a few email questions and he has always responded quickly and thoughtfully.

If he referred you to another watchmaker, you can be sure he is confident in their abilities and, if I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to connect with them.

As others have said, information about trusted watch repair shops is pure gold. Thanks for posting this valuable information. ::psy::

Roland,

I'm sorry that you feel I have brushed you off, but as I have explained in my emails to you, I get far more requests than I could ever possibly complete. I also explained that I don't keep a waiting list because everyone asks to be put on it, so it would quickly become a nightmare to manage such a list, and I would be booked years in advance.

I don't accept jobs based on how much people have spent with me, and I certainly don't let people buy their way to the front of the line with "tips" even though I do get that offer on occasion. I base my decisions on what I have in the shop and what I already know is coming in - I end up turning away several people a day.

I did suggest an alternate watchmaker when you asked me, so short of taking your watch in for service, I'm not sure what else I could have done to assist you...

Cheers, Al

Professionalism at its highest. Nice work @Archer

I received my 2531.80 back from Archer just this week. I plan to share out some pictures & details later. But, I saw this thread and wanted to comment.

I'm immensely grateful to Al for the work done on a special-to-me watch. It came home looking and running amazing. Having been on the forum now for the past ~couple of years, reading Al's informative posts and commentary from his clients, it is also a pleasure to count myself among his many satisfied customers.

The skeleton hands really separate Omega from so many, I'm not a big fan of the planet ocean hands even though I own two.

I also have inquired about some work from @Archer and while he declined, he responded immediately and was very open and honest about his reasons. I can't imagine anyone finding any fault in their dealings with him. He's also provided numerous valuable insights, pointers and pieces of advice for me free-of-charge that even without doing the work himself, he was still very helpful in getting me what I wanted. Nothing but positive things to say about him.

I don't post much, but have been lurking here for two years. I've read many of Archer's posts and one of these days, hopefully, I can make another purchase and secure his services. Clearly he's one of the good guys.

Al,

I heard great things about your work at CWC also, and now here. You reputation definitely is solid within the watch community. I had no idea that you also provided details back to the customer, like the DVD in this case, documenting the work done. That is SO AWESOME. I very much respect the level of transparency and the pride you appear to be taking in your work. When my speedy is ready for service, I hope to be able to use your services!

It would seem as if Al has a substantial backlog for service, which is well-deserved. It also means that the rest of us will have to embrace patience if we wish to avail ourselves of his excellent work.
