Was it someone here?

While looking for a couple of things (mainly cleaning machine) on FB marketplace I found a listing for a variety of tools and parts for sale by the daughter of a watchmaker in NC. I drove up this morning as I was already close and picked up a few things. I asked if any omega stuff and she mentioned that a single collector bought everything omega a few weeks ago. Just curious if it was someone here and if so…nice find. Happy to acquire some from you…

I also bought some storage drawers that were full of about a thousand movements (eta, fef, bulova, benrus, etc) nothing fancy but seemed cool to not let them sit there and will be fun to learn on for my me and my son. Nothing jumped out as crazy but they are all pretty well organized. There were also 3 very full detailed drawers of parts I did not buy. From various common vintage movements. Just wow. And apparently this was just the dregs of what was left.

in any case, two points. If you would like info about the parts, I can find the fb link and share. And second, nice score to the “omega collector” (her term). I need to search marketplace better.

parts examples she has for the watchmakers. This seemed like something worth sharing in this forum. IMG_0125.jpeg IMG_0124.jpeg

You need to find a PDF of the bestfit catalog.

https://watchguy.co.uk/cgi-bin/files?action=documents is the go to place for data sheets. Sadly they had to take down the Bestfit. Can be purchased from the copyright holder.

Would have liked to have had these resources 30 years ago. I did not bother with watches for 18 years, then the passion returned with a vengeance.

Did you get any chronograph parts? I love chronos. Seem to have about 20 Landeron's in various states of completeness. Every now and then Lemania, Venus or Valjoux slips between the cracks. Triple date moons seem to be the rarest.

I dumped my Bulovas. One has to place a limit somewhere.

Benrus and Helbros can be all over the place. Croton and Delbana seem to usually be decent. Wakmann can be fun too. A lot of these use A Schild movements. I also have a soft spot for Enicar, which is Racine spelled backwards.

This stuff could last 500 years if properly maintained. Strange that it has so little value. Divers and chronos seem to have legs. The rest is cheaper by the dozen, as you have found.

Now I wonder how many watches I have? My guess is between 250 and 300. A thousand or more seems way over the top.
