I think it ridiculous for Omega to re-make the 321. They could of spent the money to build a kick ass replacement movement for the current Speedmaster, but instead chose to go backwards.

So cost is 6969 no matter what the currency? I am pretty sure the USD is not the official currency in Switzerland. If they sell them for 6969 yen I will happily buy 2 or 3.

The Swiss Franc is at par with the US $ ... so CHF 6969 retail price would be possible.

For a marketing perspective my thoughts are it’s not going to be a LE and will be huge marketing in Airports, OBs and ADs for the year as this will not be a watch that Omega wants to sells out.

Why would you only make 7 thousand and only let 12% go to the US market when the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing will be huge in the US.

The 50th is going to be a marketing dream so why would you only sell so few.

Just remember ST1 2012 sold in less than 4hrs then over 7500 on the waiting list.

They will make a lot more than 10,000

( and no way will they put a new caliber in it besides the 1861 )

These are all my opinions as like rumours that no one knows something really.

I agree. I bet it will be a numbered version, but not limited numbered series. If they do a limited numbered series, it will likely be 69 versions of platinum variants (like the 40th ann) or maybe even as may as 1,969 of those...

6,969 worldwide steel versions with only 12.5% coming to the US would be a joke.

Can someone tell me why they stopped the 321 in the first place? To speed up production? Can’t find this anywhere!

Because they improved upon it to make it more efficient and cost effective to produce.

Thx so why remake it then? All I hear is how amazing it is and how Breguet used it etc. Then why bring it back if there are better movements? Also isn't the column wheel better in the 321 than what is in it now?

Because collectors are silly people. Plus it was in the moon!!

It does have better pusher action though and a faster beat rate I believe. Plus a column wheel is pretty.

Haha OK. Well hope all it doesn't make the watch 10k
We can hope it is. It will be more and likely in precious metal.

Huh? I thought 321 was 18000 vph and 861 was 21600 vph. 😕
But I also think that the quartz crisis had a hand in making omega switch as well.

I may have it backwards as the faster rate is more accurate

Probably, yes. Faster rate means more precise, but honestly well....the Apollo 13 crew did just fine timing their burner bursts with the 321 so I'd happily take the crisp pusher feel over the 861 any day, since I'm a silly collector 😁

Damn I really enjoyed Your TSSRG - TopSecretSwatchResearchGroup graphs 👍

Once more the highest production numbers of Apollo 11 anniversary Speedies made:
1994 was 25 years A11 = 2500 numbered + 999 for Italian market ... classic look Speedmasters ( + 500 White Gold & 50 Skeleton pieces )
1999 was 30 years A11 = 9999 unnumbered special logo caseback classic look Speedmasters
2009 was 40 years A11 = 8000 black dial with Apollo 11 logo & special logo caseback, among which 69 Platinum versions
... Overall about 10000 each with lesser number of Gold versions but I guess Omega might produce a bit more Gold versions for a Gold anniversary

Yes you may....😀

Faster rate is not more accurate - that is a red herring by the way...
