路There's currently an 18k 2648 Constellation on eBay with a black honeycomb dial. A rare watch indeed - 2648s don't come up for sale that often, much less so in black, and with a structured black dial as the cherry on the cake, I assume it won't go unnoticed among the OF audience.

It's seen some polishing, the dial shows degrading, possibly from cleaning attempts, but that's not why I'm creating this thread.
I first noticed the watch on IG from a Polish dealer and inquired regarding further pictures. On some of them, I noticed this:
There is a significant gap at the 3 o clock position. Looking closer, the Constellation font isnt what I'd expect on a 2648, and the distance between the star and the 6 o clock tick is also incorrect. Correct 2648 on the right, the incorrect dial on the left:
Turns out: This is likely a 2652 / 2782 dial in a 2648 case. The latter have 2mm larger dials (and slimmer bezels). Put in the smaller dials of the slightly later references and you'll end up with a gap between the dial and the case, which the eBay seller cunningly tried to cover with a different plexi that features a wider tension ring. It's still visible though, if you look closely:
I had asked the dealer about the dial size, not hiding my concerns regarding a dial switch. He said he'd have his watchmaker measure it, but never got back to me. Now that it popped up on eBay, he says he passed it on to a friend who apparently tries to flip it, but unfortunately, this friend also fails to mention the major flaw.
Price is already at ~3k USD, already too much for what it is: a polished Frankenwatch. Someone will get burned on this; please don't be that person.
