I will second (third?) the comments about Marshall Pierce in Chicago. Fantastic people there. I also had a great experience at the ALS boutique in NYC. Haven't had the bankroll to buy from either though, unfortunately, but boy do those flybacks make me wish I could...

Here's my 1815 '2nd Gen' WG 402.026.
Had to trim the collection, bidded my time patiently for close to 2 years and finally got it.

Jealous. That is stunning. Truly stunning

They are stunning and the quality rivals the big three easily, but I would be curious at this price point why not a Patek or VC...stir the pot...these are just as nice but I am thinking maybe more history/tradition
IMHO Patek has changed since Thierry has taken over from his father. With the designs and the quantity they produce I think Langes quality is superior to pateks. Plus Patek is now producing 60K watches a year compared to 6k by lange.

I'm thinking I may have to scrape some pennies together and make this a 40th birthday present for myself. They are stunning pieces.

You will never regret that decision.
Be aware the 1815 chrono wears large on the wrist.
It is only 39.5 but appears bigger than my other chronos (5513, 2998, SM300).
The visual reason is no bezel and the expanse of beautiful white or black dial.
Still beautiful.

I visited the Lange boutique in Munich during Oktoberfest. The boutique was amazing and had probably 90% of Lange's models to try on (not every color but they had the models). I probably spent over an hour playing with the 1815 Chrono, Timezone, Zeitwerk, and admiring the normal dress pieces. The salesman said that the Munich boutique has the largest selection of Lange's in the world.

Found my grail.

Tried to trade my IWC Top Gun straight up but it came up short.
While the dial and hands are superb its the movement that is stunning. This is where you see the best craftsmanship in watches made today (not including independents). Patek churns out 60k watches a year while Lange is in the 5-6k a year. Much more attention paid to quality and detail IMO.

Friend of mine, who needless to say is a bit of a watch nut picked this up last week. I couldn't resist trying it on as it will probably be the closet I will get to ever owning one!

I'd sell my car for a Zeitwerk or Datograph.

You don't have to pay for gas once a week or insurance once a month, and you never need to worry about your kid ruining it

I have had opportunities in the past to try some nice lange in the boutiques.

At the same time, I am lucky to also own one.

Best in class

Gorgeous, but at nearly 10mm thick and a 40mm wide case, it's a little too chunky for me. Same size problem I had when I tried on the G.O. Panomatic Lunar. Give me that in 38.5mm and 7mm thick, and I'll beg, borrow, or steal $29k.

Lange generally wear BIG, the 1815 chrono at 39.5 looks big on my wrist. It is the lack of bezel and apparent large expanse of eggshell white dial that gives this illusion of it being bigger than it measures.
