I figure I have sunk $40k on watches this year, I could sell all but 3 and get an ALS. We'll see what I think when the alcohol wears off.
An 1815 up down is a grail watch. I fear walking into an AD or Boutique for this reason. Marshall Pierce in Chicago will a test in courage for me but I'm gonna do it. Eventually.
They are stunning and the quality rivals the big three easily, but I would be curious at this price point why not a Patek or VC...stir the pot...these are just as nice but I am thinking maybe more history/tradition
My disclaimer I have not seen one in the metal and should go to the boutique on my next work trip to NYC
Fair point - I think the general consensus is that Lange at the lower end, put far more effort into their finishing than Patek or VC do, particularly in their movements. I haven't owned watches from any of these brands, but simply looking at a patek calatrava for $20k versus a Lange Saxonia at the same price, the movement on the lange is on another level. while I think the patek annual calendars at the 30-40k range are some of the most beautiful watches you can buy at any price point, the lower end pateks are a bit lazy IMO.
you're just paying a premium for the Patek name. I think Macklemore called this "getting tricked by biznis"
