Way before iPhones and other re-chargable wrist adornments, this led the way with a dummy crown that allowed you to re-charge your electric watch.
We have a previous thread on it somewhere.

Go tell Apple! I heard their new watch only lasts 18 hours (ideally) on a charge. This could save them!
Just imagine a bunch of nerds sitting winding frenetically on their iWatches in order to make it home to the charger outlet😝😝😝

That would be something. No, it's not that fancy, it's just a accumulator that's charged from a dry cell through the connector under the left hand crown. The charge lasted a few months, unlike Apples watch 😉

No, the normal crown only changes time, the one at 9 undoes and you plug a battery into it to charge an accumulator (I think from memory).
I'll try and find the original ost.
