How much have the speedies increased in value in the past 5 years? Talking about 60s 70s speedmaster.
I guess the answer will vary widely by reference # and the condition of the watch, availability of box, papers, etc. Very very hard to give 1 number.
I think the sales forum listings go back at least that far, so someone could do research and report back. Any volunteers? Or @Spacefruit might be willing to share his archived price charts.
after exhausting research i can say they are different now compared to 5 years before ... but who cares about values , we are here for horogasms and not an investement Q&A group
More then I thought, more then I imagined. I have never bought a watch on Chrono24 and I am definitely not endorsing or recommending their online site for buying watches, however, they do graph, don’t know how accurate, pricing of a particular model watch over the years. You may, or may not, find this interesting. As others have stated, there are too many variables to give a precise answer, but, I do believe these graphs will give you the notion that... “ Damn, I should have bought that Speedmaster 5 years ago.” Finally a 105.012-66
I agree with those who think that the value depends on the quality of the 60's and 70's Speedies you're talking about. The valuations of my old 105.012-65 seems to have gone up and down like a tarts draws! (Depending on who I was asking or who was offering to buy it) It got to the point that I thought I was going to have to pay someone to take mine off my hands!
Agree, Chrono24 may not be the best source, but, the graphs clearly show a very good uptick in the selling prices of Speedmasters in the last 5 years which we all will, for the most part, agree is definitely the situation.
10 years ago they were all around $1000 and DON bezels were $200. ( the threads and speculation when someone wanted $500 for a DON ) You could pick up a nice speedmaster for a bit over $5-600 on eBay in 2005
