Vintage Speedmaster Box : Marking saga

Hi everyone
I bought a speedmaster 105.012 65 (less than 150 numbers away from Amstrong one) that has come with what look like the right box shape (following the speedmaster only book) but it has not the 1501 reference stamped on the bottom. Does this means that the box is not original or that has been added later or ???

with photographs of your box, you will get a much more accurate feedback.

ok thank you for your replay I will post some picture quickly once my phone is able to connect again. I was not able to connct to the forum with my i-phone and so I am on my computer where there are non picture

No problem at all with browsing the forums with an iPhone. Nothing about this box looks bad to me.

but do you know why some box were stamped with the reference and othe were not
I will post some picture of the different reference printing I have seen
still pbm with connecting with the phone it must be it playing games

SO up to now I have found two type of markings
this is the first with Ref number and made in switzerland

and this is the second one (hard to see) where you have a 1501 M marking

In all the cases the boxes look 100% identicals but you can have
1. No markings in the bottom
2. Marking with 1501 M
3. Ref. 1501 - Box made in Switzerland

Does any one know what the difference ?

For sure, not all of that type box are marked 1501. Not sure why that is but it doesn’t matter much. It’s much more important that the box for a Speedmaster is the correct larger size as some of those red boxes look the same but are not as high and a Speedmaster hardly fits into those smaller ones.

My understandig was that the smoller one when marked had a reference 5505
Do you know, or any one else for that matter, what is the difference in height between the two types of boxes ?

The lager box is aprox 5.8cm, the smaller 5.0cm in height.

This is still a bit foggy area, those 1501 boxes. Seems like there were 1501 M&L boxes... and the difference seems to be not in height, but the L ones are just wider, see this post:

Will the Semasetr300/Speedmaser fit into both, as the seems to be identical height?
