Looking to purchase a vintage Rolex (Oyster Perpetual or Date Just).

I have heard about HQ Milton and AlexPig. Are they reputable?

Are there any others?

Wind vintage or bobs...
I have to reccomen HQ Milton too. I deal multiple timed with HQ Milton and they are very nice and you can work with them on the price.....and if there is a problem they take care of it.
Plus it is one of the few shops that does full disclose on the watch and eventually service parts or relume.

The above mentioned are very reputable shops that sell vintage Rolex. But for better pricing you should look at buying from reputable independent seller.

Eric Wind at Wind Vintage is very reputable, a former Christie’s watch specialist. He pays particular attention to the watch’s provenance, preferring to acquire pieces from original owners. I highly recommend him.

The other individual who has come recommended to me is Andrew Shear at ShearTime.

One thing that I would recommend you consider is to find a watchmaker who specializes in Rolex and have the watch sent to them directly to inspect. It will give you peace of mind. The watch will likely need a service anyway. If there is anything not kosher with the watch, you can have it sent back during that 3-day return window. Both Eric Wind and Andrew Shear have no issues operating this way, provided that they know and trust the watchmaker.

Lots of viable, trustworthy sellers of vintage DJ...a very common piece. Find one you like, post it up (before purchase!), and I’m sure someone can help you out.

I personally dislike HQ Milton, I feel most of what they sell is junk. I am amazed what they can get away with. Most of their watch are over polished, sub par dials, , with no papers, no provenance info, etc... at very high prices. There are many other dealers with much better quality offerings.

HQ MIlton has ALOT of overpolished stuff. And I think they make the decision to have them polished. At least thats how I read it.

Also if you read the descriptions I get the sense they copy/paste alot. No two watches are ever the same.

I agree with some earlier posts, Eric Wind and Andrew Shear are best of the best in the Rolex market especially for investment watches. If you just want something as a nice wearable Rolex be patient and keep looking on Omega Forum "watches for sale". I have purchased watches on OF and have never been disappointed in the quality and the price has been very competitive.

i dislike them using cute words describing clearly flawed or damaged dials and I agree they tend to overpolish many of their watches. Perhaps from their own inhouse watchmaker.

Oh yeah? How many dealers are out there that show you provenance of all of their watches and have all their watch B&P? 1? 2?

They sell everything, from NOS to the submariner so polished that the lugs are round (because not everyone is an hardcore collector that wants everything NOS ), but everything has the proper price according to the condition and you can always deal a better price.

Without mention that is the only dealer that i've seen that tells you when the watch have service parts and which one. And if they fυcked up they take their responsabilities.

I have dealt with them a couple of times and they are very easy going and nice to deal with.

Actually there are quite a few, small and trustworthy dealers that sell complete packages, or at the very least will know the provenance of their watches... not that uncommon in the vintage world.. Anyhow, this is my opinion, if you like dealing with HQ Milton, then you should.
