·Offering for sale a vintage 1970’s Rolex DateJust 1603 with matte black ‘confetti’ dial. These matte black DateJust dials are something else, much more interesting and attractive than the standard black dials. The dial on this one is beautiful with clear flecks of red and blue and gives it a different look to other DateJusts. This has just returned from a full service with a Rolex certified watchmaker, sympathetic to vintage and is under warranty to Nov 2027.
Only selling as I’ve bought two 1603’s recently (this and a blue dial which I’ll list in a couple of days) and I can’t decide which to keep. So, whichever sells first, I’ll keep the other.

Dial:
Stunning factory original matte black confetti dial in excellent condition. Looks deep, almost gloss black in low light, then a matte, almost grey colour in sunlight - really beautiful. No scratches, damage or loss of print. Lovely yellow tritium lume plots. Lume plot is missing at 10 o’clock. Matching hands. Open 6 and 9 date wheel.
Case:
Stainless steel 36mm case ref 1603 with engine turned bezel. Has been polished before (not by me). New genuine Rolex crown, tube, crystal and seals at service on Nov 25. Passed waterproof test at service.
Bracelet:
Genuine 70’s Rolex 6251H folded jubilee bracelet. This is a period correct bracelet but isn’t original to the watch. It was added by me. Has some stretch but better than most and perfectly wearable. Suitable for up to approx 8” wrist.
Movement:
Rolex cal.1570. Fully serviced by Rolex accredited watchmaker, with Rolex parts account in Nov 25, under warranty until Nov 27.
All functions work perfectly, timekeeping is excellent and within Rolex specifications. Several wheels and other movement parts were replaced with genuine Rolex items, along with the crown, tube, stem, crystal and all seals. Passed a waterproof test without issue.
Service papers and card will included.
