Hi all,

I purchased a 1962 Omega Seamaster in 2016 from a well-regarded watch dealer in Melbourne, Australia in 2016. I thought it was absolutely stunning but have barely worn it more than a few times over the years.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!

Omega and Seamaster on the dial don't look right. The same goes for the hands and hour markers.

I'm not an expert but I compared it to mine and the dial is much different. The M in Omega is straight, not angled.and the 6/9's are open on mine. My sub dials also have circles that gradually get bigger. The arrow up top seems too thick as well.

Yeah, pretty much every font seems to be incorrect. One sold on this forum a few years ago with the same hour indices, so I'd guess just the dial has been repainted (and maybe the hands replaced, but I find others with pencil hands, too) https://omegaforums.net/threads/fs-omega-105-001-62-cal-321-steel-chronograph-1962.81688/

does a redial/hand replacement significantly alter the value of the watch

Especially redials are a deal killer

It looks like a genuine watch (case movement, etc all appear correct) with a poor redial.

Unfortunately this will likely half the value.

Well, this looks pretty hideous redial.
Omega would never produce anything like that!
Currently, your watch only has parts value.

Considering the year, it probably should have come with dauphine hands.

Sometimes original dials sell on eBay for the 500-1000 USD range. Hands perhaps couple hundreds.

You can sell with a replaced dial, as long as it's original to the reference.

Unless you have original seller's photos showing the watch as purchased you will have a hard time convincing them that it is "not original" as stated in the item description.

The other hurdle is the time between purchase and complaint, EWG has the opportunity to come up with any number of excuses, but I think they'll just say "Six years ago? You must be joking."

I'm afraid you've paid the "newbie tax" on this one.

You could always go in and talk to them very politely and see if there is anything that will make you (and them) happy.

I dealt with EWG some years ago, and while they were very professional and courteous, I got the impression from our "haggling" discussion that they will not part easily with a dollar.

They have very high bricks and mortar overheads and need to pay staff and still make a profit on sales so I understand their approach.
