Vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille help

Hey, I’m new here and have recently inherited a Seamaster DeVille from my grandfather, unfortunately I don’t have any information about it (no box, papers etc). I’m now seeking help for finding correct reference for it as well if there is possibilities to have it restored, as I have no previous experience regarding these kind of watches. My goal is just to have it as a memory but I do want to know more regarding history of the watch.

I’ll post a few pictures in the thread and hopefully some of you would be happy to help!

Thank you!

All the information that you need is inside the watch so get someone competent to open up the back, take lots of photos of both the movement and the inside of the watch back and then do a little research. Good luck.

Looks like a very nice heirloom, and I don't think any restoration will be necessary beyond polishing the crystal. If you plan to use the watch, you can have the movement serviced.

Looks largely original. Likely a 166.020. Just needs a sympathetic movement service, case clean (no polish) and you’re good to go. Personally I wouldn’t replace the crown at service as it’s correct and the modern service item looks different.

You can search the forum for recommend watchmakers in your country/location.

open up the back
This is a front loading case, the back does not open, the movement comes out the front side after removing the crystal, crown etc.

Does anyone know where I could get a new crown for my Deville 550 cal that don't cost an arm and a leg?

You’ll probably get more joy if you start a new thread, introduce yourself and say where you live ….
