Vintage Omega Ref. 2640 ID Help: Unusual Dial Variant

Hello all:

Seeking your collective help: a friend of mine has this very unusual 2640-5 with a dial pattern that I cannot find information on. Based solely on the very fine printing, which looks correct for the period, I believe it is authentic. He has only found one other example on the internet.

Thank you for the response. What I would like to know:

was this dial produced in a certain SN range or year(s);
I could not find similar Omega (or other make) dials with patterns such as this regardless of reference (meaning other than variations on typical guilloche patterning) - are there similar examples that you know about from other manufacturers at the time? It just seems way out of left field in terms of design.
any thoughts perhaps if it was for a certain market or region?
I have not seen the back of the dial, but would this be a Stern Freres dial. The hour markers look consistent with what I have seen in their hardware catalogue.

Thanks - at the end I wanted to make sure that my instincts were correct that it is an authentic dial particularly with the 2640.

If anyone has any photos of other examples, I would love to see them.

There were literally hundreds of dial configurations within a single Omega reference in this era. SN ranges for specific dials of those dress watches are hardly known at all, and certainly not for a pattern of which only few are known. Same goes for production years, especially since the EotAs we know only show the date of delivery, which was years after production in some cases.

A floral theme doesn’t seem to out of line, does it? Vastly different price point compared to those entry-ish 2640s, but Cloisonné dials come to mind.

I don’t have this dial configuration in my collection yet, but I’ve seen this one before. I think this is at least the fifth example I’ve come across.
