Vintage Omega Identification/Info Request

Hello, first let me say thank you in advance for any info you can give on this watch. I inherited this from my fathers estate and I believe it was his fathers.

I was surprised how easy it was to open, and as expected there was identifying information on the inside, but I don’t know what it all means. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Sorry about the photo issue, was posted from a mobile. Here is with images uploaded. Someone indicated the face was repainted/not original? Was that a think back in the day?

Here are pictures:

I fixed the link to your gallery. Since the pictures there are not in the proper format, they cannot be copied here. But at least we can see them now.

This is a US market watch in a gold filled case. From the mid 1950’s. The dial is not original and is poorly repainted.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Gator, I re-uploaded from desktop. Was that a thing back in the day to repaint/switch out faces? Wish I knew more about the history. Came in a blue omega box.

Case made by the Jonell company in the US to save on import duties.

Damaged dials were often completely repainted. Still are, in fact.

This is it exactly. All you can tell from that, all that there really is. In theory, you could order an extract of the archives but I am not sure how much info you would get other than sold in the US and a fate.

After I saw the reply that it was repainted it led me down a rabbit hole to another forum threat that talked how this was fairly common and it seems to make sense for the time period.

As I mentioned I received this in an inheritance, I honestly don’t care if it’s only worth $1, I’ll never sell it. I was mainly curious if it was an actual omega which it seems that it is, albeit with a repainted face.

Ive sent a message to a local watchmaker for a service quote to get this old boy running again, hopefully it’s not too expensive to do so, it seems to my untrained eye to have guts that look in ok condition. But I could be completely wrong.

I was a bit surprised by the size, seems kind of small compared to watches today. Thanks again all!
