I came across one of these on Chrono 24 and fell in love.

I have a sub-7" wrist so large watches are out and modern divers tend to be a problem in that category. I prefer vintage watches in every way but vintage divers are tough to find in good condition and the fakes are rampant. I seem to gravitate towards watches that are 35-38 mm's so this Omega is perfect.

This watch has beautiful balance, the bezel doesn't dominate the watch, the colour (I'm Canadian so we add an extra U sometimes!) of the inner bezel compliments the tone of the face and the block indices work perfectly with the date window and vintage look.

Problem is I don't have $5k .... lol or at the very least, would never wear this daily given the price point.

Can anyone suggest a vintage watch that has the same aesthetic at a 1-2k price point?

Thank you in advance and I have to say I thoroughly enjoy all posts on this forum!

The watches on Chrono24 are often overpriced. This one is no exception. You should get a decent Seamaster 60 for half the price or even less. Another model you could have a look at is the Seamaster 120 which should be a little bit cheaper...

Be very careful with 120s, fakes are rampant.

Are there other brands with similar aesthetics that don't carry the cache of Omega... IE more affordable?

Zodiac SeaWolf is a great shout for a vintage, smaller diver.

I’ve been trying to find a 166062 for a while now, the price in my head for a nice one is £2k. You can easily find one for double that but these are way overpriced imo. Not too many about at the moment that’s the problem.

Maybe a Longines Ultra-Chron Diver, if you like the case style. The movement is outstanding

I would agree that the Omega Seamaster 120 has similar characteristics and fits a smaller wrist perfectly. Check out the link below if you decide to go that route.

In regards to the Seamaster 60, don’t get discouraged about the price, I have seen these for far less than 5k, most recently an excellent example sold for 2500 on EBay. See the link below for the Seamaster 60 as well.

    good luck hunting.

Thank you all. Tough getting into watches and pretty quickly developing taste for the hard to source risky and expensive pieces but the hunt is the draw for this addiction anyway.

I've a slightly larger wrist but gravitate towards these as well. I agree the 120 is a great choice in terms of cost to style/size ratio, although as I can currently affirm, finding a good original one for what you want to spend and authenticate as well can take some time. Just my two pence.

This is a "Deep Blue", case 166.073. These are lovely watches but a bit bigger than @GTAKnights is looking for plus, he's interested in spending $1000-2000 (I suppose USD?). Do you know of any of these at that price as they are a similar cost to the 166.062 in my opinion?

    Cheers, Chris

Yes was thinking around 2k usd is about all I could stomach. If I can't find these at that price then I should find a substitute like the Longines or Zodiak. I'm new so I haven't refined my pallet yet and therefore need to keep the costs down as I find my way. I also want to wear my watches so anything higher priced with a bakelite bezel might be a little too scary. I haven't crossed into the buy and put away phase of collecting yet. Just love the search and the feeling on the wrist. I don't want to buy a safe! lol Also it kind of feels awesome when you find something really cheap that works well and looks great! but that is another thread.......

Sub 7” wrists are still quite big in my opinion. Check out these short notes as recommendation of ranges that might work,
    http://www.bonsaiframework.com/wiki/display/bonsai/Proportional Watch Dial Sizes

I don't have a true vintage but some newer that have a vintage feel.

Oris 65 Bronze @ 36mm which has a very good used market price,

Depending if your wrist is at least 6.5" maybe consider a BlackBay 58 @ 39mm.

My wrist is about 7' but still prefer a smaller watch. Honestly the more I wear watches the smaller I prefer. I really like the colours on the oris I will check it out for sure. TY
