Hi everyone,

I recently purchased this vintage Omega and I would love your expert opinion on its authenticity and originality.

Details:

  • Case reference: 14714-4-SC
  • Movement: Cal. 285, serial number 18705168
  • Year: circa 1961
  • Dial: silvered guilloche with vertical stripes, applied rose gold baton indices, rose gold Omega logo, no date
I am aware the dial has several oxidation spots/tarnish marks scattered across the surface - I purchased it knowing this and accepted it as part of its vintage character.

My questions:
1. Is a guilloche vertical stripe dial correct and original for this case reference 14714-4-SC?
2. Are rose gold applied indices consistent with a steel case reference like this one?
3. Does the combination of case, dial and movement look original and coherent to you, or does something seem off?

I have attached photos of the dial, movement (serial number visible) and caseback.

Thank you very much for your expertise and help!

Welcome Delouoz
Your watch looks original to me. The dial and alpha hands look correct. The movement and caseback markings look good. The case appears sharp and unpolished.
Rather than guilloche, I would call the dial a curtain dial. These are nice and desirable.
The spot patina is noted but it probably is less notable on the wrist.
