    Hi Guys,
I want to buy my first vintage watch and i need Your advice. My knowledge about old watches is poor so without somebody's help it will be disaster and probably wasting of money. After 2-3 weeks searching i know, that i want some OMEGA model from 50s or 60s. I got an offer for 1961 Seamaster 14390-61-SC cal.285. Watch looks quite ok, case was a little polished but seller said that the dial and hands was never renovated - this is important thing for me. Crown is also original and glass is new with OMEGA logo. Asking price is 700€ or 800$.

And now questions for You as a specialists :)
    - is this good offer for this watch?
    - dial looks very good as for watch which have 60 years. Is this dial is really original without any renovation?
    - crown have OMEGA logo but is this crown is from this watch?
    - and the last request - if You see any problems in this watch, any things which are incorrect please share with me. I don't want to buy watch which was prepared for selling and will be bad choice.

Thanks for any help and below are pictures:

Unfortunately i have no picture of caseback inner side. I asked seller about it but he wrote that he don't have. He is owner of this watch about one year and prevoius owner made full service in 2016 so he didn't open case.

Of course You have right but i'm newbie in vintage watches world. Everyone without experience will make mistakes that's why i asked You about help. Certainly a lot of You have huge knowledge about watches from this period so You will catch suspicious things looking on these pictures.

It's a lot more efficient for us if you post the pictures directly on the forum, a lot of us will not click on unknown links.

Just click on the ADD PHOTOS button below the dialog box, point to the location of the photos, wait for them to load and then "Insert Photos".

The dial is excellent, reminds me of woven silk.

It's obviously been cleaned and polished, the movement looks spotless which wouldn't be possible if it was simply left without attention.

I wouldn't pay $800 personally, I would haggle for a lower price. Dial looks good as said, 60 years is a long time so there must have been something done. Maybe a simple clean up job when replacing the glass.

In case of price, my offer was 660$ but seller don't want to talk about price decreasing.

I would walk away then. I'm sure you'll find better for $800. Either that or the seller will reconsider and sell it to you for less.

It's your money at the end of the day however.

Shouldn't it have the "T"s? It should be tritium on hands and indexes, shouldn't it?

Enter the reference number in the search feature and you'll find lots of info on this model as well as past sales that will give you a sense of market value.

Nice dial and hands are proper and in great shape. It would be worth the asking price if the case wasn't over-polished like that.

I like the dial, but the case is really bad. It's a no-buy for me.
