There isn’t a whole lot of collector love for these style of quartz watches, but what you love is all that matters.

good to have asked here first. May I also suggest you read this and many more threads here to get better equated with what to look for and what type of watch you really want

Real watch, but I am pretty sure that is a fake Omega buckle. As others say, the value is not high. If it is super cheap and you like it, go for it. Dave has given you a good starting point to look for other options.

Hi @Stacia, welcome on OF.

The Seamaster is, as said above, real. It has been polished a fair bit, but that is typically an issue for collectors and shouldn't worry you. As @wagudc writes, the buckle is fake.

There isn't a lot of collector interest for these watches and prices should be reasonable. Very cool hobnail dial texture on this one you are showing, much more interesting than the flat dials 😀

It’s a presentable watch though not highly sought after, as others have said. The only thing I would add is that if you get problems with the movement later on, they might not be so easy to solve if it’s a case of component failure. Hopefully the price is right!

I will go a little further. I don’t think vintage quartz watches are of any interest to about 97% of collectors. This limits value very significantly, but doesnt usually stop dealers claiming rate and collectiBle status. In my view less than £100. It is quite handsome. If it is just a fun one off thing then don’t worry about this stuff.

Looks to be an ‘80s model so it might use an off the shelf ETA movement meaning that repairs if necessary might not be as complicated as they can be for the earlier in house quartz stuff. Personally I wouldn’t use the words vintage or classic for this and It’s not one to get collector pulses racing but it is what it is and if the price is right and you like it, why not.

The crown with what seems to be a centre setting button could well be using the Omega in-house 134x movement from the late '70s, not the later ETA. Disclaimer: I don't know what the crown for ETAs looks like.

As padders says, if you like it go for it. I certainly like my same era Seamaster quartz -- and, and, and @eternalover tells me that puts me in the top 3% of collectors 😉

Except I'm not a collector, I bought this new in 1982 just because I liked it.

You mention you are looking to buy your first "classic" watch. The watch you show does have elements of classic design from a classic watch brand. From an historical perspective however, I think some would argue this is not a "classic" Omega.

I don''t think it is a centre set crown the OP shows. I think you are mistaking the Omega symbol for a button. This is why I thought it was likely a ETA movement.
