Something a little different for the GS collector- 6145-8050 which is an unusual reference only made for 2 months, April and May 1972. They came in 4 dial colors, silver, blue green and brown. The colored dials were very uncommon. Over time almost all of the blue dials faded from UV exposure to charcoal grey, and that is what we have here. These watches had several other unusual features- the case was HSS hardened stainless steel, which was also used on several other special GS references including VFA. Also, the crystal was faceted with 2 vertical lines running top to bottom, which is hard to see in all photos but clearly noted on first photo. Hard to photograph this one lots of shots in different light. I’m selling this one to fulfill one of my 2025 collecting vows- to sell duplicates as I have another from April 72 (one from each of 2 months they were made).
Dial and hands are original, with charcoal grey as noted. Polished raised SS indices. Original crown. Date feature works well.
Original thick faceted crystal with some small edge chips seen on magnification, the facet lines on dial face are good.
Case is unpolished or hand polished only with some wear marks but held up well with HSS.
Horseshoe caseback with small area of gold logo loss as seen on photo. SN 259302 manufacture May 1972
Movement Suwa 6145A 25J High Beat 36000 BPH automatic. Hand winds and hacks. Serviced before delivery to me in 2023, so I have not opened case for movement photo. Keeping excellent vintage time. Purchased from "The Grand Seiko Guy" Gerald Donovan, well known GS collector and dealer in 2023.
Watch comes on new flat pebbled black leather strap shown in most of photos
Overall an unusual vintage GS reference in good condition, functioning very well keeping excellent vintage time. Please ask any questions. Vintage watch not guaranteed for future function but working well now.
I am asking $1500 including insured shipping CONUS, more as required for shipping elsewhere. Watch and I are in Toronto Canada. Payment by PPFF for established members, WISE or Interac. Please no returns unless watch is misrepresented. If any problems I will do my best to make things right.
Please see feedback here on OF and EB where I have been active for over 20 years as cooper7440.
Thanks for looking and thanks to OF for space.
