Vintage de Ville on eBay - your opinions?

Hey Guys, great forum here! I would like to ask for your opinion on a piece I am interested in. What confuses me a is that the seller has plenty of pieces of the same (de Ville) model, and that they are all like new. Would be interested in your opinion - how realistic is it that this might be fake? Thanks for your help!

Not a fake, but its redialed, don't buy it. Don Draper effect at work here (Its been redialed to look like the watch worn by Draper in Mad Men, which itself is also a redial). The unenlightened will bid it through the roof but its already way overpriced and not worth owning.

Wow. That was quick, thanks. How can you tell it is redialled? The seller says the dial is restored, so in terms that is fraud, right? A similar ohne just sold for 2K€. You only need two idiots on ebay.

Alternatively I am interested in this one, but it looks dirty inside: http://www.ebay.de/itm/VINTAGE-OMEG...02?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_16&hash=item2edf857e4a

Whatever you decide take the sellers claims of +1 second a day accuracy with a pinch of salt, I once bought a Longines chronograph from him that came with a similar accuracy claim, it turned out to be running +9, but not 9 seconds per day, this one was running + 9 minutes per hour 😵‍💫

Needless to say it went straight back for a refund

Ok, thanks for the info - are you referring to the first or the second link?

The dial is restored is code for redialed. Whenever you see "Professionally restored" that means they stripped the entire paint off the dial and repainted it from scratch.

This is his text:
Omega Black Dial , Best condition , freshly restored by an expert , no scratches , no stains , signed Omega Seamaster De Ville Automatic Swiss .
There is no way to "freshly restore it by an expert" without stripping and repainting the blank.

The second link watch looks tired as well, I'd not be buying that.

The second dial does look to be original at least
But the minute hand is a bit short.

True, not great overall. Though more original than the first watch at least.

What I also don't get... I searched for the reference number of the watch in the first link on the official Omega database, and it referred to a de Ville 14k gold watch with solid case. The watch yet has a steel case. How can that be?

Don't treat that as gospel the database is very incomplete
