Looking at the examples above, it looks to me like Carerras were either not polished that much or maybe made of harder steel. Either way, some very sharp edges on display
Well, they were originally purchased as tool watches, and my boxes of tools in the garage don't get polished either [1]. However those long lugs are easy to ding on the edges, in the case of my 7753 panda mainly by trying to stop the bracelet's endpieces from rattling. I promise I have learned to live with it and will inflict no further damage 馃檨

[1] Just occasionaly wire-brushed to remove rust 馃槜

Nice Inverse Panda. But it's not a Pre-Carrera it's more a economic Carrera at came out after the Carreras.

I have a super early 3647D with radium dial and a nice later 3647N. Couldn鈥檛 decide which one to keep, so I still have both 馃槈

It will have a Valjoux 7730 or 7733 movement, date 1970 perhaps plus/minus a couple of months. But the case looks like chrome to me, which would make it a 7721. Nothing wrong with chrome if it is in good condition, I have a Zodiac signed 7721. In the UK these were about 5-8% cheaper than the Carreras.

My favorite watch to wear, no matter how many other brands / references I handle or own. I suppose a few have passed through my grubby hands over the years...

Hi, thanks for the Info, it is the 7723 Steel version (also stamped between the lugs) and it has a 7733.

1970 is good to know, where do you source this Info? I haven't found much about this ref and never saw a Steel Heuer Version until now.

OK, good to get confirmation.

There is some information in the OnTheDash reference pages, http://www.onthedash.com/master-reference/
although the data have not been updated for quite a while and I can see things that could be corrected with the latest knowledge, particularly in years and movements.
The 1970 estimate is based on personal communication from Mark Moss one of the compilers of the list of known serials.

A browse through the catalogues would also be useful, although the choice is mainly between the full Carrera and the chrome-plated models. Make sure to see the pricelists in the Chronosport catalogues! http://www.onthedash.com/documents/catalogs/
