I jumped on a buy-it-now Bulova 666 chrono a few weeks ago on US eBay and it just landed here in Germany. It was clear from the sellers pics it was going to be problematical, but I think it isn't as bad as it could have been and it was only €100 so it didn't break the bank.

Anyway, now it's here I wondered if it's worth the cost to get it fixed. I actually quite like the dial, but I think it's fair to say that it's damaged rather than tropical. There's been a leak by the crown / pushers as there's rust on the movement, but I have a 7733 donor so I reckon I could get it fixed and serviced for around €250-300, so €350-400 all in. Do you guys think it's worth the effort ? And is there any love here for this knackered dial, or should I try and go find a good condition or NOS one to replace it ?

That is super cool, I love it. The dial is aged, but the rest is very good, like hands and bezel. It will clean up very well. Would love to see it after a service on a nice strap.

Before the spa visit..

..and after.

Next job to buy and butcher red and white silicone straps to fit the 5mm gap in the case. (Unless you have a better idea?)

I was never a fan of red watches until I saw the one above.

Adding to this thread since the advert was posted above- one of the new 1957 Milships in the metal on vintage military 2-piece strap.

This is a wonderful watch and really wears like a vintage diver.

So flying in the face of all those that have blasted the new Mil-ships for the 16mm lugs saying “ I can’t get straps or bracelets for that size”- I say you’re a lazy ass and thinking with a 2022 mindset and not a 1958 mindset.

JB Champion Komfit with fixed 16mm endlinks. I got this on a Longines Weems and it’s a stunning stylistic fit for this watch. Could even adjust the clasp quickly to go over a wet suit.
