This is a circa late 1950's Croton Nivada Grenchen Antarctic in very nice overall original condition. These watches are famous for their association with Operation Deep Freeze, conduction in the mid-50's by the United States Navy, with participation by the Air National Guard and National Science Foundation. The watch features a hard to find 25-jewel, copper-plated ETA caliber 1258 movement. I believe my watchmaker said even the setting lever is jeweled, which is uncommon. The movement has been fully professionally serviced about 1 year ago by a Swiss-trained watchmaker (details upon request) and is in excellent working order. Beautiful dial and blued sweep second. 34mm excluding crown with 17.5mm lug width. Strap shown not included. US$775, includes paypal/shipping Canada/USA.
