Vintage 18k Ladies watch. Fake?

Hello,
sadly my mum recently passed. Going through her staff, I've found a golden watch. To be honest, I don't remember my mother wearing this watch, but I've seen it in some of her pictures of special occasions from the 80's or 90's. In my family, we've been through difficult times in the past, so I don't think my father could afford this kind of presents for my mother. Though, there's a chance that it could have been a gift from my uncle (he did some business in the jewellery field) or my grandparents.
I don't take it for granted, my parents were good people and a couple of times they've been victims of frauds, so it could be a fake watch. Anyway, I'd be glad if you can help me find out if this watch is authentic.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Many things tell me this a fake! The “Constellation” name was only ever used by Omega on men’s chronometer watches. The awful printing on the dial. Omega would have used a gold applied Omega symbol on the dial, not a cheesy printed logo. Omega wouldn’t put “Antimagnetic” on the dial. The dial is die struck. Omega would have used applied baton markers on the dial. The poor quality hands. Omega didn’t put their karat stamp on the outside of the case back. Omega wouldn’t use that Omega symbol on the outside of the case back. Omega wouldn’t use that kind of cheesy clasp on an 18-karat bracelet! Others may add more. There is a piece of the clasp missing at the tongue end. This is a pathetic, horrible fake!

well, thank you for your reply. It's a bit sad. I'll see if it is gold at least.

Don’t waste your money having it tested. It is NOT gold, only gold plated.

Here you go - a women's Constellation and a non-chronometer Constellation with a printed logo 😁

...Not saying the watch in the OP is correct - nor gold - though!

I once bought an 18k watch with the bracelet having no hallmark that I could see. I knew that model was only made in gold. I took it to a local jeweler who told me that it didn't look like gold or have the weight they would expect and that sadly it would be plated.

Subsequently took it to another place with the correct (and expensive) gold testing machine who were kind enough to test it for me for free and confirm it being 18k all over, the case bracelet and clasp.

Point being take it to someone with the correct machinery to check for gold content in any part of it.

Welcome to the forum,
Sorry for your loss. I don’t have much to add to what others have said- other than to express condolences.

Good for you.

However, there's no need to waste time with the watch the OP posted, it's an obvious fake and will be made of brass with a thin plating of gold.

These fakes, or more correctly, counterfeits, were made in the thousands during the 1950s/1960s etc and were often called "highway gold" (or European language equivalent) as they were hawked at service centres along the highways of Europe, among other outlets.

If you still have this “genuine” unmarked “18-karat gold” watch, please show it. Show it, or it didn’t happen!

I thought so! You don’t have, and never had an unmarked 18-karat watch with an 18-karat bracelet! One that was called “plated” by one person, but confirmed by someone else!

I come here to enjoy reading about watches, not to argue. Have a good day
