Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some opinions on this vintage Ulysse Nardin.
Based on my research, it appears to be a 1940s rectangular "Tank" style model, likely housing a Cal. 735 movement.

I think this one looks good, from these photos.

To be sure about the dial look at it closely, on these old gilt dials the numerals and other print are the gilt dial surface and then the black is applied to it, so the black should be sligtly raised.

Thanks for your input. The dial looks original, and the text and numbers are embossed. I read on this forum that the movements were also faked. I don't have much experience with this brand, so any feedback is highly appreciated. Is this a cal. 735?

I didn't know anyone was faking these mov'ts. I don't know enough about UN to say with certainty that it is 100% correct, in that case.

I observed that watch through the auction process. I see no evidence of fakery, and believe the major components to be original. The crown is almost certainly a replacement, however, and I don't know how closely it resembles the original.

When I received this watch, it was very dirty and the crown looked newer than the rest. Now that I’ve worked on it a bit, the case and the crown match better. However, there’s one more thing that concerns me: the case numbers look a bit strange to me.

Although the photo isn't very clear, I wouldn't worry about that. The chances of someone fabricating a case of that type and complexity are miniscule.

Here's a better image. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks! I was totally out of my depth here with nothing to compare it to, but I liked the look of the watch, so I went for it. Ulysse Nardin's production in the 40s must have been quite limited, as this is the first one I’ve come across in ages with an original dial. At least that’s one thing I could tell for sure

You're welcome. It did sell for a bit more than I was expecting, but it is a very uncommon, and I think nice example.

UN is really much better known for its vintage pocket watches and marine chronometers, and collectors pay strong prices for them. But they made some interesting wristwatches, and while the movement is not in the same class as those found in those other two categories, it certainly is collectable. O also happen to like the dedication on the back, as I find it attractive, and it helps to date the watch.
