Hello all and happy August 1.

I'm trying to find some more information about this watch and was hoping someone here might be able to share their knowledge. Many brands have put there name on these triple date watches but this one without any name on the dial has me wondering. The only name that appears anywhere is Record W. Co on the chrono bridge. The only similar watches I have been able to find with Record on the dial use the Valjoux 88 triple date moonphase. The dial does not appear to have been refinished so I'm curious what brand this is and why would a brand produce a watch without a name on the dial. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Record would produce movements and some jewelry/other stores wanted a lower price point watch and would contract others to produce a watch. some had no names on the dial, others did.

I have no idea why there is no name on the dial.

Brands were not as important as they can be now. I suspect this has a lot to do with advertising especially the Post war Radio and TV era.

These were made as raw movements. Anyone could purchase a batch of uncased movements and finish them how ever they wanted. Often the name on the dial was added with another printing pass. Especially retailer names. This could have flaked off the dial.

I have a Heuer V-72 with no markings on the movement or bridge. The case back is also missing. The only think that makes it Heuer is the name on the dial.

Students could also get these raw moments and finish them as part of an assigned project. The plates on this look to have a nice finish.

The watch is in a dismembered state. So who knows if all the parts are from the same watch. It is easy to mix and match these parts. I do it all the time. For fun and a way to learn more.

It probably is not a good idea to project the values of one century or era onto a prior one.

If you google anonymous vintage watch, you will find other examples of these. I see a lot of anonymous chronographs. Overall, they are less collectible than a branded example, but they can still be very appealing and high quality watches.
