Hi all Omega-lover-mates, I'd like very much this named Omega Seamaster Professional America's Cup Limited Edition 18k Gold bezel (photos attached below) Perhaps, it could be my second Omega? (my first Connie was taken with your help). Omega-lover-mates, please help me to decide: Buy or NOT buy this watch for 1880 US. dollars? Thank You very much!
From citizenrich: Sorry citizenrich, I had moved this thread from the Vintage Omega section in the moment you post this comment. I am so sorry for this.
I am pretty sure that bezel should be matte and not shiny. There were 9999 made and should come with a blue Americas Cup box also. Look on eBay there is always some listed there. Other than the bezel it looks fine. Would I buy it.... Personally no. There are way better seamasters out there like the 50th anniversary GMT OR great white!
Seems like 1880 is still a good price. How important are the accoutrements to you? (generally more important to have for these limited edition -commemorative watches). tough decision.
Yes, DLT222, my friend also tell me that the bezel of this "America's Cup Limited Edition" should be matte and not shiny, too!
And, I think, the tip ofthe second-hand is supposed to be the RED color, right? It is tough decision...
ok, Omega issues different references depending on the year. And, there are variations for each year. *edit Here's the same one you're looking at for ~50 bucks cheaper (comes with box and papers).
I gather if you are in Vietnam you already know that you cannot import used items unless you carry them in. They will confiscate if you use a shipper. I very nearly lost a moon speedy but fortunately I had the sender state a watch being returned from repair. Still took a lot of talking, nearly crying and paying a shed load of dong as duty on a fabricated new watch.
Barking mad, I am very sorry and would like to share with you for those inconveniences you have suffered due to customs in my country...
The bezels on these get shiny with age, wearing them in effect polishes the bezel. The second hand can completely fade out with a lot of sun.
