Hi all Omega-lover-mates, Tomorrow, I have to pay my first vintage watch: A named Omega Constellation (the photo attached below) With all the counterfeit and franken watches in mind I'm scared to take this watch for 1269 US. dollars. So, Omega-lover-mates, please help me to decide: Buy or NOT buy this watch? Thank You very much! All my best regards,
The Omega vintage database describes it as : I'm not an expert on Connies, but the service markings and pitting corrosion on the caseback indicate a genuine watch. To me at's a bit too polished, but that's not a big deal. Movement is nice and clean and correct. The dial looks OK but I'd need a better picture to be sure it hasn''t been repainted. I don't know about value as I don't know where you're located. See if you can wait for some Connie experts to give an educated opinion.
Welcome and good luck with your Connie. Be prepared to sacrifice your wallet if you continue your affair with Omegas
JimInOz, I am agreed to pay 1269 USD, because I see one Connie like mine just got sold for 1650 USD (without SS bracelet) here: http://www.qualityvintagetimepieces.com/vintageomegaP4.html If not, without bracelet, my Connie is 1034 USD.
Hi dtt, While the price is in high side, it is still fair. I like the fact it still has the yellow rubber gasket ring and the movement is in fine condition. The dial looks original to me in very good condition. The bracelet worth USD 150-200 so if you like it no problem to take it. Enjoy it !
Thanh You very much, Privateday7! Somme told me that, the crystal is Omega's, but not original for this 14900-62-SC...Thank you for your help!
I wouldn't worry much about crystal. It is not expensive and you can get it replaced when you service your watch in the future.
Fusion, sure, I will post some photos when I get it (for a better price, hope so !?!). Thank You, Sir!
Looks very nice to me also. Dial is original and is in good condition. In in the current market, price is on the high side, but for an all original piece in this condition it is not outrageous. Wear in good health, gatorcpa
Gatorcpa, I am agree with you. Nowadays, Vintage Omega stainless steel "Pie Pan" are really expensive (~1800 USD): http://omegaforums.net/threads/fs-omega-constellation-pie-pan-stainless-steel.17099/ Thank You for your kindness, Sir!
Hello Omega-lover-mates, Base on yours comments in this thread, I just called the seller of the Connie to share my hesitation about the price. He said, he can offer to me another Omega, a "no-name" Rose Gold Omega Cal. 267 for the same price (~1300 USD). This is my first affair with vintage watch, so I would like to ask you, if you are in my case, what Omega you would like to buy, please? Thank You so much for help, my Omega-lover-mates! Best regards, dtt from Hanoi, Vietnam.
It is really your choice. It depends on what are your needs, desire, aspiration etc. I personally will choose pie pan over this. Since you are in Vietnam, you could contact Hoipolloi who has many Vietnam dealer friends, which will have advantage of local sourcing rather than buying from abroad. Just my 2 cts
Thank You so much, Privateday7! I have Hoipolloi message, but I don't have yes better pics to have his answer. I will try to ask him about sourcing in Hanoi. Thank You again, Sir!
I think you'd be foolish to pass on the Constellation. I don't think the price is out of line at all.
