Hi all,

When do you think the Diver 300 Pro will be updated? It seems new, but was updated moe than three years ago. In two years or what to expect?

The watch has all of Omega's latest tech and is up to the mark to compete with their competitor from "that other brand". I would not expect any major upgrade or redesign, rather some (limited?) anniversary edition to commemorate its 30th birthday. One that could potentially use a new generation co-axial movement before it is rolled out across the entire line.

But all that is just guessing.

Probably another 3-4 years based on prior models running like 7 or 8 years. I'm waiting for an updated Seamaster PO which will hopefully come next year.

It's been updated twice since 1995 that should give you an idea and why would they waste cash on R&D when they still sell like hotcakes!

Any speculations on what updates we will see on the new PO?

Yeah a PO update seems likely to come before the Diver 300. I hope they make it a bit thinner. Was interested in the GMT and Deep Black but they're like 17mm. Too chonky for my tastes.

I'm hoping for this:
-thinner/more wearable size
-tapering bracelet
-quick strap change as with the 300m Americas Cup Chronograph
-Maybe the pick up some cues from the Ultra Deep, manta-lugs, no HEV, muted color instead of shiny, or even better they launch an ultra deep?

A 13mm PO would be absolutely fantastic.
I would also like it if Omega swapped out the double broad arrow hands with the sword/pencil set historically used with the 300 (IMO it matches the rectangular index dial aesthetic much better)
It would also be nice if they replaced the inverted minute scale along the inner diameter of the bezel with a more legible one, like on the 300m.

So in essence you want them to remake the 2254? Not a bad idea!

shhhh! If you point out the obvious move like that they might not do it! 😉

Seriously though, a PO like that would be even closer than the 2254 to the 165/166.024s we love so much. And as much as I like the 2254, I think the trapezoidal index dial and sword/pencil handset works best when paired with the asymmetric lyre lug case. This would also open up a route for Omega to produce limited editions/production runs paying homage to the military connection.

Everyone hopes for a thinner PO, but they get thicker with each iteration. Don’t forget, it is rated for 600m water resistance and having that extra thickness advertises the fact it means business!

Can’t imagine that Omega can (or will) make it as thin as the older 2254 and maintain it’s place in the hierarchy or their watches. The Rolex Seadweller has always been thicker than the Sub for the same reason - partly for the engineering but also likely for marketing it as a more rugged watch.

The 8800 is actually thinner than the 8500 so Omega did thin the PO a little bit. I think the best way to thin out the watch is to just remove the display caseback and put back the hippocampus.

The Seamaster 300 got thinned from 15mm to 13.8mm with the latest version. Speedmaster was also thinned out slightly so Omega is trying to thin some of the watches.
