I can’t claim, like the OP, to have been handling all makes of watches for the past fifty years, but in my shallow understanding, the more recent Genève brand was an entry-level model without a lot of the more desirable design features of the Seamaster brand. The unusual paint job aside, the OP’s watch is an absolutely standard Genève model; I don’t think I’ve seen a similarly bare-bones case with a Seamaster branding, but I might be wrong.
