Unusual Omega Constellation

My mum gave me this Omega Constellation, I'm not sure of it's heritage but I believe my cousin bought it in the 1960s.
One thing I noticed that seems a bit odd is the holes in the arrowheads and the date function.
I also haven't seen any Constellations with luminescent hands.

I would really appreciate any ideas what model number is and the likely cost of replacing the glass?

Your watch likely dated from the late 1950’s or early 1960’s. There were some dials of this style that had radium dots on the markers. That is what the “holes” were for.

They were probably removed when the original dial finish was stripped off. The redial is not the best, although an honest attempt was made to duplicate the fonts of the original printing.

The hands and crown were also replaced at some point. The case looks to be Ref. 2943.

Hope this helps,

I wondering if the holes are drill holes when these were removed from a different dial? I have not seen lume in the middle of broad arrows. Looks bad either way.

You need to run a search here. We have several members who have these.

Lume dots on the top of arrowhead markers are not unheard of. For some references, this configuration was part of a factory special order luminous package which made the watch in question quite unique and very collectible. I have a Constellation reference 14381 in my collection with that configuration and it is original to the watch.

Ok thanks. Seems a funny thing to lume, not for me.

Found one, not as bad as expected. I was picturing the dark coloured lume of old radium.
Can't seem to upload the photo because I suck.

OP's has the correct hands for a Factory Lume Package special order
Yes, agreed. I'm working on sourcing the correct set of hands for mine as part of its restoration.

The OP’s hands are probably correct for a “dome” dial, where the register is at the edge of the dial. The hour hand is also a little longer than the hand for the pie-pan dial.

pie pan update: the watch is growing on me, when I first put the watch on it was running about 5 minutes a day slow but after 2 weeks its keeping time accurately, a testament to the talent of the Omega engineers. I want to replace the glass as it has cracked in a few places, is that possible? Does anyone have an idea what that will likely cost. can you buy genuine parts for these old watches or is it only reproductions and used?

The logo crystal is hard to get, you need to find one on the web. No logos are plentiful and your watchmaker can source one.
You need to get it serviced to prevent wear on parts. The dirt and dry gease loosened up, now it's floating around in there.

The crystals with the Omega etched logo are still available. My watchmaker has sourced several for me for both 34 and 36 mm cases.

Crystals may be available from the manufacturer, but you will need to find a watchmaker with an Omega parts account. Omega no longer sells parts to the general public.

thanks for the tips, I hadn't thought about the grease breaking down, is the logo etched on the inside of the glass?
