Keep an eye out on eBay and you might get lucky, there are plenty being sold loose, just need to be patient and keep your eyes peeled

That’s correct @Peemacgee. The watch is indeed from the US. I was told it was from a lifelong owner who had it serviced by omega in the US and wound up with a factory replacement dial against his wishes. From what I’ve read, the model was one of the last ‘transition’ models before dogleg and sold alongside same for a short period but was relatively unpopular in the face of that new design. Thanks very much again for those insights!
More likely the watch was repainted at service due to degradation- which was a very common occurrence.

The case style is not so much transitional but the last of the lyre lug series of Constellations - before the more modern styled dogleg and hidden crown Constellations were released.
(The gold lyre lug Constellations continued to be produced in the, let’s say, more conservative UK until the end of the 60s)
