Was at auction today, hammered at £950 plus fees and VAT.

Has anyone seen a top wind Omega with hinged lugs?

vacheron has made some top-wind watches in the early days (with fixed lugs), but here the quality of execution isn't exactly great. That hinge looks a bit bodged.

I may be wrong, but the quality of the work around the hinged lugs seems so very poor ...??

Could be a pocket watch adapted in a locally produced case. And because of the position of the crown, top lugs needed modification. A watch which has been highly transformed.

Agree with Franco, but a simple gold case was converted (rather than made) and then an Omega pendent movement/dial installed

You try making something that small with only hand tools and we'll see how you do.

Is it just me or does the chapter ring not line up with the indices?
I wouldn't get too hung up about that. The dial was hand-painted and it won't be perfectly aligned.
