Unknown Omega family heirloom

Dear all,

2 Days a go I got this Omega watch from my grandmother. It was owned by my grandfather and by his father before.
I am trying to get my head around what type this Omega exactly is.

Could someone here maybe tell me a bit more about this type and its history?
Personally I estimate that the watch has been bought around 1963.

I did some searching via google and chrono24, can't find a similar watch.
Nobody in the family has been able to give me more information so far.

Kind Regards,

The bracelet is interesting too, Omega or aftermarket? With the nice raised logo and pinstriped clasp my initial thoughts are original, but the straight ends of the Milanese bracelet give me some doubts...

Can you post some pictures of the inside of the clasp, especially any makers marks or hallmarks.

In any case, what a nice gift. Lucky duck.

I went to a jewellery specialised in vintage watches!
Dor_42 seems to be right about the seconds hand. Apparently it has been replaced for this one.
About the bracelet, it's an original golden mesh omega bracelet, what in this time seemed to be prestigious since they normally came on a leather strap. The bracelet ends are not fully straight you can see this at the upper one on the picture. But it's true they have made also more curved ones.

I'm planning on to get the inside work serviced since the date hops on to the next at the 2 o clock position and it probably never has been serviced.

Still having doubts if I want to replace the seconds hand for an original one or just keep the red one since that makes it unique for me.
I'll keep it for the rest of my life anyway so..

Anyhow, very happy with my new watch! 😀

Thanks for the info guys!

That is an interesting bracelet. Glad it's original, and with an Omega clasp. Great watch.

if a red second had was good for your grandfather...

by chance was he a doctor? i've seen other red second hand watches marketed as such, stating it's easier to mark time to take a pulse. i have a 2627 date@6 with one.
