the micromotor looks unharmed, many are in a much poorer state having lost their brass plating, the same cross hairs feature on my non date 215. I think thats a nice watch

I think the chrono sweep is wrong?
The sector subdials and the overlap between subdial painting and the main dial paintings also give me doubt it is original...

Hello all, new to the forums and UG. Completely new to this vintage watch thing but recently got into it... what a poisonous thing this is 😜

since i'm totally new to this, these forums have been a great help in boosting my knowledge. so far ive gotten tips on spotting redials (flat "A" for the fonts, angular top part of the digit "3") i've since resolved to not buy anything at least until i've gotten better with spotting re-dials

thought i'd begin my first post with the ebay inquiries thread. Noticed this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-VINTAG...597455?hash=item3d197c8acf:g:mowAAOSwFGNWRhE~

Thought i'd expand my knowledge by seeking expert opinion. I've never seen a uni compax in 37mm before... neither have i ever seen a 12 oclock marker with the two vertical markings ||. Can anyone shed light on the authenticity of this watch?

37mm uni compaxes do exist, usually holds a 287 inside. The watch in the eBay link is a redial, so best avoid (no concentric circles in the subdials, no Swiss under 6 etc.). You might also be interested in looking for a zenith with cal 156 (edited) inside 😉

Typo. You mean Zenith cal 156.

Ha, thanks editing now

just checked out some of the watches with the zenith 156, they are indeed awesome too! seems like quite a number in 37mm too, which is great.

What do think of that one? dial looks fine, case maybe a bit too polished.
Any advise welcome.
Cheers.

The hands look weird. The lumes on the MH hands cover too much space. The second hand looks wrong. I think it should have pointier ends (or is it just too rusty?). Also, is it just the angle, but the "P" on the Polerouter print looks smaller than the other letters?

I have seen a couple with hands like this one with fat lume before but I'm not sure it is not a relume. The P looks fine to me...

The hands look wrong to me. If they are not wrong they are not original to this watch.

so you think that one is wrong too, just wondering as there is indeed no mention of those hands on Polerouter.de.

The only Polerouter dauphine hands with lume that I have seen have just a little streak in the middle of each hand. I'm not saying that others don't exist. I have yet to see any.

Also on the watch you're inquiring about, I find the hands do not match the dial or the watch. The dial and watch are in very good shape while the hands are all rusted.

There is a Swiss shop selling this one and I also don't believe the hands to be original. Similar to the ones you are showing but the bottom of the lume triangle is straight instead of beeing curved like yours.

And correct me if I'm wrong but the UNIVERSAL and GENEVE are thinner on your watch.

Still don't know what to think about that one...
The P looks smaller in most of the pictures i'have seen, and when i look at the details of the dial, how the line crosses the M of Automatic, and how it goes around Universal, Geneve and Polerouter, how the E looks, how the text is aligned, i don't think it is a redial, and if it is one it is a pretty good one....
The hands look weird i agree, i think they just "lumed" the MH and HH that were not designed that way, and the rusty SH bothers me too...
So we are back to where we started....
