Hard to tell exactly what lies beneath the crazing but this one has good vibes.

I like it a lot, I would say that there is still room for it to go north but it is getting close to its ceiling! It is a great one and would make a great piece with a NOS bezel and a new crystal. Both difficult to find but not impossible ... 馃榾

Apart from the missing bezel pearl, I thought the bezel looked in reasonable condition. Do you have any concerns over its originality?

people just aren't reading the description
Streuth - 562 yoyos! I shall now be inserting the words "Hot" and "rare" into all of my watch sales together with buckets of exclamation marks.

Don't say that - I bet somewhere some 80s guy would love to wear it 馃槜

I hear john travolta is a Breitling and UG fan. Apparently wore a late compax in one of his films (may have been an aero) !

I would have raided the baby's piggy bank for that pole outer sub early 2nd gen on eBay but Obviously someone is more desperate for it than I am. I would not be surprised if it went for over 5k at this rate ... Darn, What is happening too UG prices. The days of being able to build an awesome collection for under 10k are over, you would be lucky to o get one or two at that ...

Some interesting bid retraction techniques on eBay being used to determine other bidders' highest bids. There is clearly no honour amongst some watch collectors/dealers. It's against eBay policy but I can't see them doing much about it - the bidder in question has retracted 36 bids in the last 6 months.

Really, $4,1k! The one that got sold here in Dec was only $3,5k and it came with a UG bracelet too!

Seems subs overall are just becomming more and more expensive. I'm guessing the hipsters don't want to be yet another one with a submariner. But why does that have to affect my getting of a Polerouter sub? 馃憥

At least I hope it was someone here who got it - I want to see it with a new crystal.

BTW, have the Hodinkee team ever been caught putting one of their own watches for sale "under the loup"?

Not sure about being caught, but they have certainly marketed "friends" watches or dealers that they favor. I know this because one of the watches I bought came from Jason Fried, which I learned about through Bring a Loupe! 馃槈

Now.. was it just THAT nice of a watch, or did they intentionally try to help.. not sure that can be proven, but we can surely speculate 馃槜

As I shared before, a Polerouter Sub which had a questionable case was being offered to me then at USD 2700. Soon after I said no to the seller, I saw it up for sale in an online store. A few days later, the watch was being posted by the new owner on on IG. After a while, the new owner was offering it to me for USD 4,000! I ended up getting a far nicer one a coupe of months ago for almost half the price

I have a reason to say that they don't really do that (market their friends stuff and trying to make money out of it). As Ben used to say, if they were to do so, why not go for Patek or Paul Newman? But my reasons are not that but it has to do with a watch I bought from a member of hodinkee team. It was an honest transaction with no bullshit 馃榾

It's a 1939 extremely rare U.G., 100% original, nice design and very well preserved. In my opinion 562 euro is not expensive, the price of a 80' gold plated quartz must de Cartier...

Quartz ... ! Please do not use such language on this forum :whipped:. There is only one place for any watch that is powered by a quartz movement and just in case that you are wondering, it is not the recycle bin 馃ぎ
