According to the description the case is French made. My question is was that done in the 1930's? Or was this originally a 600k UG of which the gold case was once scrapped and the French case was added later?

No lume TriCompax, Lou expressed some of these do exist. No lume hands or dial.

I am still surprised this hasn't sold. It is almost identical to the one in Sala's book on page 148. Even the description validates this.:

That dealer has silly prices, and a reputation for being a real jerk. I'm surprised he sells anything.

Don't disagree about the dealer or the price. But still....these don't come up often looking like this.

If I just take the Sales section here as a sample, the last one offered (for 4k USD but the condition, at least of the dial, was less striking) was a couple of months ago. The average seems to be once a year....if even that.

The caseback on many (or even most) of these Clapton's usually faded with either some light polishing or perhaps even through usage (rubbing off on the wrist while being worn). My evil Claptop (reverse panda) has the serial no and reference no intact and clearly visible which suggests it may even be unpolished (hard for me to tell with certainty).

I don´t think this one is a redial (but it definitely is relumed). And I think the full serial is 878129.
What I am quite sure about, though, is that the upper pair of lugs has been re-welded...
