Strange one. Caseback seems UG (although I'm not 100% convinced). No reference. Serial with strange font. Movement serial suggests much later serial https://www.antiquewatch-carese.com/mens-watch/UNIVERSAL/mo1564.html

Probably a stupid newbie question (for which I apologise) but does anyone know why the 3, 6, 9 on the 3 o'clock subdial are elongated?

Short answer: something about timing international telephone calls.

Long answer: I recall that somebody posted a story once which explained why this was not the case

With the fat lugs no less. Its all there. Well worth buying and investing in a light touch restoration. Indeed these are rare birds. I own one and I love it.

that’s odd, someone posted a stainless EB recently and now a stainless FAB. Wasn’t aware either came in stainless, have only ever seen gold. I wonder if these could be legit or not. This caseback doesn’t even seem properly sized for the case so that doesn’t inspire confidence. Someone would have to do a deep dive study on case serial numbers maybe.

Very rare bird: 22109 https://www.carsandwatches.com/watches/super-rare-universal-geneve-baby-compax-chrono-26mm. Don't doubt that the dial is original but the lume plot at the left index is weird. Or basically all of them are. Probably a later addition

I humbly would like to say that these last 2 examples are redialed. I don't know the last one price, but trust me I'd really love to have the selfesteem of the guy that asked 24K for a redialed UG to buy in Venezuela.

The black dial most definitely. Some inconsistency in the second. At first it looks ok and then warning lights blink, it’s an early dial though so more delving would be needed.
