It seems that 1930s calibre 255 3 handers have started to attract attention - attention I'd rather see go elsewhere. It's a particularly nice case on this one (the jury is out on the sterile dial) but, like the last one I commented on here, I get a sense of somebody trying to create hype rather than it being real. Let's see how long it remains unsold at €2.9k.
From your perspective as a three hand veteran, what are the arguments for and against that dial? To me it sure looks like it belongs there but that is unscientific.

I can't prove that this watch didn't come out of the UG factory with that dial on it. We all know that UGs of this period have dials that can fade and it's possible for this to happen unevenly so I can conceive of somebody scrubbing the name off the dial to make it look more uniform (I can obviously conceive of that scrubbed text being something else like Longines/Mido/Alpina - you get the picture). Unfortunately the 255 isn't referenced in Ranfft so it would be interesting to know if it's a true in-house calibre or a re-purposed A Schild or Phenix (like, for example, the 3 hander Colonials) - I should probably direct a bit of research in that direction.
This is the 2nd cal 255 3-hander to seemingly make silly money in a relatively short time frame - they have a very distilled and lean aesthetic and of course it's possible that the market has just discovered them but I'm a cynical old fart and I have a feeling that something is being manipulated. If this had pitched up and sold for under €3-400 I'd be inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt but where the bidding appears to go bonkers and then it turns up on a ludicrous BiN I immediately don't trust any of it.
Did someone here get this?

Since I haven’t heard a single peep around here about this Aero Compax, I can only assume that one of you snaffled this beauty recently
I was following closely on Ricardo but the auction moved well though my budget in the final stages. It hammered at CHF 15,306 which, despite this piece’s obvious rarity, seemed like a very strong price indeed to me.
